During the UIT many activities are organized by the UIT and you get to know everything Utrecht has to offer: culture, sports, associations, parties, workshops and a festival. All this with a group with which you are going to experience a great week!

When is the 2026 UIT?
UIT 2026 takes place from August 10 to 13, 2026 and offers four days of a great program full of culture, parties, sports, associations and lots of Utrecht!
How much does the UIT cost?
Your ID, ticket, a lot of sense & a good mood! Also, a bike is handy and we recommend sleeping in Utrecht.

How long are you busy per day?
You can be busy from early morning until deep into the night, Utrecht always has something beautiful to offer. But of course this is anything but compulsory. So you decide exactly how long you are busy. Check it out program for a rough indication of events.

How can I register for the UIT?
Registrations for participants, crew and mentors of the UIT 2026 are currently closed.
Are there any activities that are mandatory to do when you register for the UIT?
No activity is mandatory, you decide for yourself and in consultation with your UITgroep which activity you attend!
However, we do recommend that you come to the opening show and mentor registration on the Monday. This will allow you to start at the same time as your group and start the UIT together.
Where can I find which group I am assigned to?
Through the mail you will be sent your group number, this is important and remember it well. If necessary, write it down in your notes.
I have enrolled in a lottery study. What should I do if I am drawn?
If you are drawn you should email to deelnemers@utrechtseintroductietijd.nl To undo your enrollment.
Which group is best for me?
The goal is to place each participant in an appropriate group. This way you can get to know fellow students. Each group will be guided by mentors. These are senior students. You will be randomly assigned with other participants from different programs.
Types of groups:
- Standard: This is the most frequently chosen option. This option is for prospective first-year students in Utrecht.
- Master: As a beginning master's student in Utrecht, you will be assigned with other master's students.
- International: You will join a group with other new international students. The working language here is English!
In addition, we ask about your interests, through this we try to make groups that hopefully like the same activities.
I am not 18 yet, can I participate in the UIT?
The UIT is for everyone who comes to study in Utrecht, including minors.

I cannot participate in the entire UIT because I am returning from vacation, is that a problem?
Coming a day or two later is always possible. Just let us know and your group will accommodate you then. If you are on vacation during the whole UIT you can still get access to the app. This contains all the nicest places in Utrecht and a short piece about most of the associations.
I don't (yet) have a room in Utrecht. Where can I sleep?
The UIT is an intensive week full of program that you don't want to miss. However, the UIT organization is not responsible for finding you a place to sleep. Therefore, it is important that you arrange a place to sleep! Therefore look below for the different possibilities. Read here more info on sleeping accommodations.
Do you have a bag of stuff with you on Monday morning? No worries, you can leave it at the baggage claim area at the opening show in TivoliVredenburg. Afterwards, you can pick up your bag here again.
Can I participate in the UIT if I am not going to study in Utrecht, but want to start a student life here?
It is only possible to participate in UIT if you will be studying at one of the participating Utrecht educational institutions. The University of Utrecht and Hogeschool Utrecht are the principals for the UIT, and in addition the HKU, University for Humanistics, Nimeto, ROC Midden Nederland, MBO Utrecht and Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht also participate. They finance a part of the UIT, therefore it is only accessible for their own students. Therefore, if your institution is not listed among the above institutions, unfortunately you cannot participate in the UIT.
Do I need a bicycle during the UIT?
It is definitely advisable to have a bicycle during the UIT so that you are not dependent on Public Transport or other participants. There are bikes for sale or OV bikes for rent at several locations in Utrecht.
I have a (physical) disability, can I participate in the UIT?
Everyone is welcome at the UIT! We feel it is important that all parts are as accessible as possible. You can indicate if you have a disability when you purchase your ticket and we will take it into account when we assign you to your group. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us by sending an email to deelnemers@utrechtseintroductietijd.nl.
What if I bought a ticket but can no longer participate?
In principle, if you have purchased a ticket and payment has been completed, you cannot get your registration fee back. We make exceptions for the following situations:
- You are not admitted to your studies.
- There are serious personal circumstances that prevent you from participating.
